The PowerSpout TRG is a Turgo turbine which on a suitable site can produce up to 1.6 kW, 24 hours a day, all year. If you need more, units can be stacked to generate over 16 kW on the same penstock and power cable.

Voltage
The TRG is available as TRG 14/28/40/56/80/170/200/350. The number is the operating voltage — the cable voltage, or MPPV. The open circuit voltage (Voc), which is what you see when nothing is drawing power, can be up to three times higher. A TRG 200 works well with a 200 V grid tied inverter but can approach 600 V when the inverter is not drawing from the turbine, so check your inverter's maximum input voltage against Voc, not against the operating voltage.
A TRG turbine comes with
- 4 jets and 4 valves (2” BSP standard, NPT optional)
- All Camlock fittings and pipe clamps for 50 mm (2”) ID flexible hose. You supply 4 x 50 mm BSP (2”) or NPT male fittings on your penstock, and 6–10 m of smooth bore flexible suction hose.
- 4 metal jet supports, to stop the jets sagging under the weight of the pipe
- A mid-range oil filled pressure gauge
- Manual grease fitting
- One SKF LAGD 125/WA2 automatic greaser, fitted — over 12 months of continuous lubrication
- Bearing block pre-charged with 70 g of SKF LGWA 2/0.4 grease, to keep moisture out from day one
- 2 m of 4 mm² tinned PV wire for +, − and earth
- 2 x MC4 cable connectors
- 4 x Tek screw fixing kit
- 4 x spare jet inserts
- Rotor packing set, where we judge it likely to be needed
- 3 year warranty on standard turbines (under 1200 W), 2 years above 1200 W
Bearings. Replace the automatic greaser once a year and your bearing warranty runs for the full term of the turbine warranty. Replacement greasers and grease tubes are available here.
Ordering
- Order the High Power upgrade if your site asks for 0.69 W/rpm or more from each turbine. Our calculator tells you this.
- 2” BSP threaded valves are supplied unless you select NPT threads above.
- A TRG manifold and other TRG parts can ship in the same carton as your turbine, up to 29 kg total. Ordering turbines separately from each other avoids a shipping surcharge — see also our twin packs.
