PLT Install Tips

Below are two pictures, before and after. The turbine has been in use for many years but it was clear (from the lack of any spray on the top of screen) that the top jet was poorly aligned.  Much more power was delivered with a minor tweak to its angle. If you make your own PVC manifold make sure you heat set the pipe so the jets are in perfect alignment, and well supported to prevent sagging over time.

After. Client stated “Output increased 100 Watts after changes”

Another tip is to remove the screen and check you have a very clean water jet, as the picture at top shows:

  • A clean jet of water with no spray emanating from the jet.
  • An exhaust spray that is central and forms a cone at 90 degrees to the Pelton rotor at the point of impact.
